24-hour dial Longines Twenty-Four Hours – The Watch used by Swissair Navigators

(01/2011) In the 1950’s Longines supplied watches to the Swiss national airline, Swissair. These timepieces, which had been developed specifically from the brand’s aviators’ watches, had a very distinctive 24-hour dial. This technical characteristic met the needs of navigators who, at the time, had to determine the position of the aircraft and set up a flight plan. Longines has now re-issued this watch for both historical and functional reasons, as well as for the aesthetic attraction it still holds. The new version has been given the name Longines Twenty-Four Hours.

The International Space Station The high-precision chronograph – El Primero Striking 10TH – has taken off into space

(12/2010) Above our heads – at an altitude of 400 km – floats an impressive mass of some 400 tonnes. This flying giant is not some lost asteroid, but the International Space Station ISS, orbiting around the Earth. The laboratory is continually inhabited by a crew of six astronauts. In December 2010, a Swiss watch – the ZENITH El Primero Striking 10TH – left the Earth on board a Russian Soyuz rocket, launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. This high-precision chronograph was taken into orbit in the Columbus module by a European astronaut as part of a European Space Agency program.

Expéditions Polaires Françaises – Missions Paul-Emile Victor The Longines watch for missions to the Arctic and Antarctica

Lange & Söhne Park in Glashütte on 15 July. With this, the company pays tribute to the founder of Germany’s fine watchmaking industry, who opened the first watchmaker workshop in the region in 1845 with 15 apprentices.
