Hublot watch stolen Bernie Ecclestone: See what people will do for a Hublot

(12/2010) On November 25th, 2010, Bernie Ecclestone was mugged and his Hublot watch stolen from his wrist. The very same day he sent the picture his wife had taken after the assault to Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot, along with a note: “See what people will do for a Hublot.” Since the two share a certain sense of humor, they soon agreed to turn the incident into an advert. It was to be a strictly one-off shot appearing in the Financial Times and the International Herald Tribune of December 8th and 9th 2010, only.

(11/2010) Geneva - Antiquorum's weekend sale of « Important Vintage and Modern Timepieces » held on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of November at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva, realised CHF 7'006'275 with 80% of the lots being sold. This concludes Antiquorum's autumn auction season with a total of CHF 15'922'890. In addition to the 339 online bidders, there was a substantial presence in the room as well as numerous telephone bidders. Attendance came from around the world , including Germany, Italy, the United States, Romania, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Singapore and Canada.

(11/2010) In a long lasting legal battle before the Court of the Region of Moscow, Swatch has been able to recover the domain name swatch.ru which was owned by a private person in Russia. The judgment rendered on 13 October 2010 represents a precedent in Russian jurisprudence for the fact that up to now, Russian courts had been very reluctant to grant similar claims.

A total of 84 percent of the auction was sold by lot, with 115.54 percent sold by value. The auction room was full and enjoyed a lively and competitive atmosphere, with many lots being sold in the room. Very good month for Swiss watch exports Swiss watchmaking in August 2010: Faster growth

(09/2010) August was a very good month for Swiss watch exports. Their value exceeded one billion francs (1.07 billion), nearly equalling the 2008 result. Monthly growth peaked at +24.1%. With two-thirds of the year now behind us, the branch is 20.1% higher and has grown at a sustained pace since last January. Gold watches set the tone in August with a gain of almost 40% in value. Bimetal timepieces also reported a better than average sales rise. In terms of the number of pieces, all the materials moved ahead. The increase was more pronounced for precious metals and bimetal watches.

(07/2010) The Swatch Group Ltd. and Tanzarella Ltd. signed a contract for the takeover of the activities of Tanzarella Ltd. in Riazzino/Locarno taking effect on July 12, 2010. The takeover will take place by transferring the assets into a recently founded Swatch Group company. The new company called Assemti Ltd. will be at the present location in Riazzino / Locarno. The Swatch Group Ltd. will acquire the building used until now by Tanzarella from Credit Suisse.

(06/2010) Antiquorum’s summer auction “Collecting Modern & Vintage Timepieces”, held at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong on Saturday 26 June, achieved excellent results totalling HKD 36’897’120 (CHF 5’243’080; USD 4’743’125), with 81% of the 431lots offered being sold, representing 120% by value.
