(08/2011) Universo Ltd., a company of The Swatch Group Ltd., and Energizer Ltd., both in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) signed a contract on August 10, 2011, for the acquisition of buildings and land on rue Louis-Joseph Chevrolet 43 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The handover will take place on November 1, 2011. In addition, The Swatch Group Ltd. will initially employ some 40 former employees of Energizer Ltd.

(07/2011) Following the clear recovery of 2010, watch exports continued to grow in the first half of 2011. Their value after six months stood at 8.7 billion francs, an increase of 19.3% compared to the first half of 2010. Last year’s level was therefore surpassed by more than 1.4 billion francs. This strong increase placed the sector above the benchmark result of 2008.

(07/2011) Supplier Swatch Group is to reduce its shipments of movements from 1 January 2012, with the blessing of the Competition Commission. Independent brands are furious. "What exactly is the Competition Commission for, apart from favouring monopolies?" Frédérique Constant CEO Peter Stas was openly angry following the decision of the Competition Commission (Comco) to authorise the Swatch Group to lower its shipments of movements (-15%), and assortments(-5%) to third companies.
