A great start to the New YearGood Design Award for NOMOS Glashütte
An outstanding end to an outstanding year: We are delighted to announce that NOMOS Glashütte has received the Good Design Award for Minimatik. This internationally renowned prize for product design was founded in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen and Edgar Kaufmann Jr. - and recognizes products that appeal with their exceptional form, function, quality, and aesthetics.
Such as Minimatik: The latest design from the watchmaking company is elegantly slender, thanks to DUW 3001—the tenth in-house caliber from NOMOS Glashütte at its heart. This movement sets an entirely new standard as it is only 3.2 millimeters in height and yet robust and extremely accurate. For this reason, Minimatik is perfectly proportioned, with its tapered form and flowing lines flattering every wrist. Highlighting the innovation within this timepiece are fine accents in cyan blue on the white silver-plated dial.
Minimatik is part of the neomatik collection, which NOMOS Glashütte introduced in a limited series - a 1st edition - earlier this year. Like the DUW 3001 caliber powering them, these automatic watches are slender, elegant, and extremely accurate. And very successful as well - the demand for neomatik is enormous, and the 1st edition series is already sold out with many retailers.
For NOMOS Glashütte, the Good Design Award has become a tradition: First received in 2011 for the NOMOS Zurich, the honor was bestowed the following years on Tangente Datum (2012), Ahoi (2013), and Metro (2014). The fact that the neomatik model Minimatik has now received this coveted design prize as well is a very special Christmas present indeed for the brand. It is also a great start to the New Year and in 2016 NOMOS Glashütte will continue on course with the neomatik series and other next generation automatic watches.
