BASELNEWS 2011Century: The ultimate fusion of horological aesthetics and technical expertise
A watch with an iconic shape mounted on a new bracelet: with the PRIME TIME EGOS CHRONOGRAPH DAY & DATE, CENTURY has achieved the ultimate fusion of horological aesthetics and technical expertise. Part of the ESQUIRE collection for men, this timepiece has a COSC-certified self-winding mechanical movement with 48-hour power reserve, and instantly catches the eye with its powerful, sophisticated looks.
The straight edges of the dodecagonal case crowned with a CENTURY sapphire, cut and polished by hand, contrast with the curves of the three chronograph counters surrounded by the tachymeter indicator. The day and date aperture, offset at 3 o’clock, balances the layout of this subtle and meticulously conceived watch, which has been crafted by experts in our Swiss workshops.
For the first time, this timepiece is presented on a Milanese mesh bracelet. Woven in a metal thread, this new bracelet represents the pinnacle of watch- and jewellery-making techniques. With its origins in Antiquity, this complex process requires many stages to complete, including weaving, cutting, compression and polishing, and was first perfected by Renaissance goldsmiths working in the Lombardy capital. Milanese mesh is prized for its robust yet flexible qualities, as well as its unrivalled feel on the wrist. Light reflects off each link as the bracelet moves, creating a delicate interplay with the palladium shade of the CENTURY sapphire.
PRIME TIME EGOS CHRONOGRAPH DAY & DATE is water resistant to 100m and comes with a choice of white, slate or black dial.
