An aerial portrait of our planet - toward a sustainable development OMEGA unveils EARTH FROM ABOVE by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart and the photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand made their appearance in the press conference and share their concern about environmental issues and sustainable development and the common concept that each individual should take action for the planet.

In this exhibition, Yann Arthus-Bertrand invites us to take a journey with him through the realities of the world. His aerial photographs reflect the variety of natural habitats and expressions of life, and also man’s imprint and assault on his environment. This work constitutes a “state of the planet “at the beginning of a new millennium.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand made his personal appearance at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. “Each one of us, individually and collectively, globally and locally, has a role to play in the future of the planet; everyone has the power to act and the duty to rally, massively, in order to influence decision-makers. “ Said Arthus-Bertrand. Fruit of a patient research work begun in 1990, these photographs, chosen from thousands of shots, owe their emotional and evocative power to Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s eye and to his desire to be a witness for generations to come. Today, “Earth from the Above” has been translated into 24 languages. Already more than 130 million people in about 120 cities have seen the exhibition.

Planet Ocean, to Celebrate the Legacy of Oceanic Exploration and Advocacy
OMEGA has long been associated with the planet's oceans. In the nearly eighty years since 1930s, OMEGA has been associated with some of the best-known underwater explorers and oceanographers including Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Charles William Beebe, "Dolphin Man" Jacques Mayol and the late Sir Peter Blake.

To further celebrate the brand’s long association with the exploration of the oceans, in May in Capri of Italy, OMEGA announced the partnership and collaboration with Yann Arthus-Bertrand, also as the filmmaker, on a movie called Planet Ocean, the official movie for the UN to speak about oceans, which will be premiered in June 2012. It will also be a follow-up to Home

Stephen Urquhart, President of OMEGA, was excited about the partnership and collaboration between the brand and Yann Arthus-Bertrand. “No one could do it better. Yann Arthus-Bertrand is both an environmentalist and the world's leading specialist in aerial photography. He has a unique combination of skills that will allow him to communicate the majesty and the beauty of the oceans cinematically.”
