Evolution and identity: distinctive features of the Eiffel Tower and the CommanderBASELWORLD 2013: The Mido Commander Chronograph
For the watchmaker Mido, the extraordinary architecture of a monument is synonymous with a mark of true design, just like the Commander. Equipped with an automatic movement, this new chronograph has a sporty look. The dial, with its sunray satinated finish, is adorned with three snailed anthracite counters.
The faceted appliques are subtly reminiscent of the latticework of the Eiffel Tower – an edifice with a strong identity, similar to that conveyed by the Commander at Mido, a collection appreciated since its creation in 1959.
A hymn to iron, the curves and oblique lines of the Eiffel Tower arouse fascination. Both symbol and monument of Paris, it stands out by its technical and architectural perfection. Evolving with the times, it has forged a powerful identity over the decades, like the Commander, which beautifully evokes this bold and legendary construction.
This new chronograph is equipped with an automatic movement with top finishing and is fitted with a transparent case back enabling the finely decorated automatic movement to be admired. With a diameter of 42.50 mm and water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bar (50 m / 165 ft), the Commander Chronograph will appeal to every man who admires fine watchmaking and appreciates Swiss tradition and expertise.
The Commander has been given a new look, but retains the strong character so emblematic of the collection. The satinated stainless steel case and polished bezel, treated with rose PVD, encircle a dial with a silver sunray satinated finish. A faceted and domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, which is adorned with three snailed anthracite counters that lend the model a fine masculinity. The hands are golden-rose. The hour and minute hands are treated with white Super-LumiNova®, as are the faceted golden-rose appliques, for easy readability at night.
The Commander Chronograph is fitted with an anthracite leather strap. It is also available in a full steel version with a silver dial and silver or anthracite counters or an anthracite dial with silver counters and a black leather strap.
