A classy timepiece of Swiss watchmaking geniusBASELWORLD 2013: New Claude Bernard Automatic Open Heart
Every watch can tell the time - but the new Claude Bernard Automatic Open Heart also tells a story. The Open Heart, which will be introduced at Baselworld 2013, speaks volumes for the fine tradition of Swiss watchmaking. And you don’t have to be in the millionaires’ club to own one. Hand assembled in Les Genevez, home of a watchmaking legacy dating back 300 years, the 40.5mm diameter Open Heart pays homage to the brilliant Jura-based master watchmaker of the same name who began Claude Bernard Watches in 1973.
Today, Claude Bernard’s team of expert craftsmen and women carry on the delicate art of creating fantastic timepieces just as their Les Genevez counterparts have done for three centuries. Each Open Heart is therefore a direct link to the past, present and future of Swiss watchmaking at its finest.
The Open Heart’s beautiful, clean and elegant design is enhanced by openings on the dial and caseback showing the whirring, mechanical heart that powers the watch.
The chocolate brown dial with its Arabic numerals, pink indices and “dauphine” hands presents a superbly readable face, complemented by the rich tones of a genuine leather strap. Water resistant to 50m, the Open Heart is constructed from stainless steel with pink PVD coating while ”underneath the hood“ beats a CB85 movement.
The Open Heart is a classy piece of Swiss watchmaking genius that would have made Claude Bernard proud.
