An evergreen in red gold - IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Edition Kurt Klaus

A true classic can also be recognized from its large number of admirers. By popular request: the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Edition Kurt Klaus – in red gold 5N with a black dial. For more than twenty years, the Da Vinci in a round case with the perpetual calendar developed by Kurt Klaus was the iconic IWC watch. The Da Vinci made its debut as a chronograph in conjunction with the transition to the distinctive tonneau shaped case. In parallel with this, the rehousing of the original movement technology of the previous Da Vinci with a perpetual calendar in the new case in 2007 as a special Kurt Klaus edition was a worthy tribute to the designer of the IWC calendar.

By popular request, the fifth edition of the Da Vinci in honour of Kurt Klaus is now making its appearance – on this occasion in the warmest red gold 5N with a black dial. This highly emotional and vivacious colour combination is also fitting for a watch that takes its name from one of the most famous Italians. To relate even more about the almost limitless capabilities of the Da Vinci would be akin to carrying coals to Newcastle or bringing watches to Schaffhausen.

The Edition Kurt Klaus perpetual calendar chronograph remains unique, because it embodies the complete range of indications that also made the first original from 1985 so desirable: the display of the date, day, month and the year in four digits. It also incorporates a perpetual moon phase display and the functions of a chronograph with the ability to record and store aggregate times up to twelve hours. The watch is po wered by the 79261 calibre chronograph movement with automatic winding. Operating the calendar could not be easier, because no ad justments of any kind are required. In fact, it would be possible to advance all the indications via the crown synchronously and by the day if the watch were not worn for some time. The fifth special edition of this Da Vinci once again bears the small signature of Kurt Klaus on the dial and a back engraving comprising the portrait of the inventor and the limited edition serial number from 1 to 1,000.
