PassionAn Exceptional Man of the Watches: Gerd-Rüdiger Lang
Watches are his passion. In a unique interview, Gerd-Rüdiger Lang, who has chosen to live in Munich, delivers insight into his lifework. He wears the symbol of his passion on his forehead: his watchmaker’s eye loupe. He always has it on him, even now in the interview. The thoughtful and thorough founder and proprietor of Chronoswiss is a passionate watchmaker in the literate sense.
He was born in Braunschweig in 1943. From 1958 until 1961, he learnt the trade at Jauns, a watch speciality store in his hometown. In 1980, he completed the school for master craftspeople in Würzburg. In 1981, he founded a special workshop for chronographs in Munich. In 1983, Gerd-Rüdiger Lang showcased his first mechanical chronograph “Chronoswiss” and founded a watch company of the same name.
With his passion for mechanical watches, his entrepreneurial vision and a strong brand management, Gerd-Rüdiger is one of the few to have led the art of the watchmaker, long since considered obsolete, into a new age.
