The 2010 World Cup ChampionsAn Audemars Piguet becomes the offical gift of the Royal Spanish Football Federation
On March 22nd 2011, in the prestigious Chocròn jeweller’s in Madrid, the Royal Spanish Football Federation presented the official gift – a watch made by Swiss manufacturer Audemars Piguet – to the players of the Spanish football team that won the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa. The model bearing reference 2633OR, is a selfwinding Royal Oak Day Date in pink gold fitted with a brown alligator leather strap.
The brilliant performance achieved by the Spanish national team players in South Africa officially establishes them as the world’s best team. It is duly rewarded by a watch chosen by the players themselves and embodying the fundamental brand values – tradition, excellence and audacity – that are reflected in the exceptional career of each of these athletes.
The Manufacture Audemars Piguet, founded in Le Brassus in 1875 by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet, is currently one of the world’s most prestigious watch companies, renowned for the quality of its watches, the meticulous design of each of its parts, its desire to excel, and its perpetual quest for excellence. Loyal to its reputation for exclusivity, the Manufacture produces less than 30,000 watches a year. The 35 examples of the model chosen by the Spanish football team, the Royal Oak Day Date in pink gold, represent the entire production for the year 2011, and this reference will not be available before 2012.
The 35 watches worn by the players, the coach and the technical team have thus already found their place in the history books and have become collector’s items. The back of each watch is personalised with the name of each player, engraved with the words “CAMPEON DEL MUNDO” and the date of the final: 11-7-2010.
