Debut at the OMEGA Dubai Ladies MastersGolf superstar Shanshan Feng is OMEGA’s newest ambassador
OMEGA is proud to announce that Chinese golfer Shanshan Feng has joined its family of brand ambassadors. She is part of a roster that already includes Greg Norman, Sergio Garcia and Michelle Wie. The young golfing star will make her brand ambassador debut tomorrow on Wednesday December 5th at the OMEGA Dubai Ladies Masters.
Shanshan Feng is one of the most exciting professional golfers in the world. She became the first full-exempt player from China to join the LPGA Tour and in the years since, has emerged as one of the Tour’s fiercest competitors. In 2012, the talented 23-year-old won the LPGA Championship, a major title, by two strokes, becoming the first Chinese golfer to win a major– in fact, she was the first player from mainland China (male or female) to accomplish the feat. The victory established her solidly among the top-ranked women golfers – it was among the five championship trophies she won in 2012 – and she is currently ranked sixth in the world. Shanshan Feng started playing golf at an early age. Her father worked at the golf association in her home city of Guangzhou and started taking her to the course when she was ten years old.
OMEGA is proud that this outstanding competitor, whose smile lights up every course she plays on, has joined its family of golfing brand ambassadors. The brand looks forward to celebrating with Shanshan Feng each time she adds to her already-impressive list of victories and achievements on the golf course. The sport of golf has become enormously popular in China and continues to enjoy extraordinary growth. OMEGA is thrilled that it will have the opportunity to celebrate each of Shanshan’s victories with her fans in her home country. The brand has been present in China for more than a century and is the market leader in the prestige watch segment. Shanshan Feng’s role as a brand ambassador will raise awareness of OMEGA even further, particularly among the millions of Chinese golf fans.
OMEGA and golf – a global legacy
For years, golf sponsorship has been a vital part of OMEGA's brand strategy and the famous watchmaker’s name is associated with some of the sport’s best events. OMEGA's partnership with The PGA of America makes the Swiss watch brand the Official Timekeeper at the Association’s great events including the PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup when it is contested in the United States. OMEGA is the title sponsor of the European Masters, contested each year in Switzerland, and of both the Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Ladies Masters, two of the most prestigious sporting events in the Middle East. OMEGA will be on hand as Official Timekeeper in 2016 when golf returns to the Olympic Games for the first time in more than a century. Its inclusion in the world's highest-profile sporting event proclaims boldly that golf is truly ranked among the world's global sports.
