Legendary rallye-pilots in legendary cars Pure Racing at the Chopard Grand Prix

Blue sky and sunshine were attracting thousands of spectators to see the Chopard Grand Prix, a demonstration of former Formula 1 race cars, driven by Formula 1 “legends”. Nigel Mansell, for his first time at the Ennstal-Classic, was piloting a Porsche 908 / 3 race prototype of the year 1970, Sir Stirling Moss was demonstrating a Ferrari 750 Monza race car.

Dieter Quester on the rare Borgward RS 1500 of the year 1958 was as unique as the Tecno Formel 1, piloted by the Italian Nanni Galli who was the original pilote of this car in the year 1972. The infernal sound of the boxermotor was fascinating the numerous passionates. Maria Teresa de Filippis, the grande dame of the Formula 1 (she raced in 1948 as the first woman in the Formula 1) was co-piloting a Maserati 200 SI of the year 1955. Further stars of the motorsport history were participating the Chopard Grand Prix such as Rauno Aaltonen (Triumph TR2 Le Mans BJ 1980), Jochen Mass (Mercedes Simplex BJ 1902), Marc Surer (BMW MM Roadster BJ 1939) and Jo Ramirez (Kaimann F Super Vau BJ 1972). A VW Race Touareg of the year 2011 was certainly an eye-catcher for its “not being a historic race car”, but a modern participant of this years Dakar-Rallye. Sitting very high up, the pilote Timo Gottschalk was declaring to have to be careful not to overlook the little race cars…

Some „majestic visitors“ came to do the Final of the Chopard Grand Prix in a Packard of the year 1925: the Austrian actors Robert Palfrader and Rudi Roubinek, known as “Kaiser Robert Heinrich I.“ with his adjutant „Obersthofmeister Seyffenstein“ of Austrians most popular comedy “Wir sind Kaiser”.
