The 19-year-old South African swimming sensationChad Le Clos is OMEGA's new swimming ambassador

Chad Le Clos, the 19-year-old South African swimming sensation, has joined OMEGA's family of brand ambassadors. Chad made a strong impression on OMEGA at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010 when he collected five medals. In the same year he claimed gold in the 200-metre butterfly and the 400-metre individual medley at the Commonwealth Games, setting Games records in both events. At the FINA World Short Course Championships in 2010, he won the gold medal in the 200-metre butterfly.

Le Clos will be in good company at OMEGA as he joins Olympic superstar Michael Phelps, another brand ambassador who made a huge impact on the sport at an early age and Alexander Popov former Olympic gold medallist.

“I’m honoured to join and to be part of the Omega family”, said Le Clos. “It gives me great confidence knowing that Omega will form part of my team in the future with their exceptionally talented ambassadors. Omega’s support of swimming and swimming legends past and present provides an exciting platform for my professional sporting career and I’m looking forward to having the chance to work closely with them”.

OMEGA has no doubts that Chad Le Clos will make major contributions to competitive swimming in the years to come. President Stephen Urquhart said, "Swimming has been an important sport for OMEGA for many years and we've always been associated with some of the greatest names in the sport. Chad has demonstrated that he is ready to compete at the highest level and we expect great things from him, not only at the World Championships but at next year's Olympic Games in London."

OMEGA's association with competitive swimming have led to some of the sport's most important timekeeping equipment including the famous touch pads at the end of each lane that stop the clock the instant a swimmer finishes the race. The brand provides the official timekeeping services at the highest profile swimming events including the FINA World Championships and the Olympic Games.
