The World Watch and Jewellery ShowBASELWORLD 2013: Federal Councillor Widmer-Schlumpf opening the new fair
The completely redesigned BASELWORLD Watch and Jewellery Show is running from April 25 to May 2, 2013 in Basel. Federal Councillor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf will be ceremonially opening the show. For the first time, BASELWORLD is being staged in the new hall complex designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron.
For 1,460 exhibiting companies and more than 100,000 professional visitors from all over the globe, BASELWORLD 2013 constitutes the decisive industry event of the year.
The world’s most important watch and jewellery show, BASELWORLD, is opening in Basel on Thursday, April 25, 2013. The innovations and trends on display there will confirm the pre-eminent position of BASELWORLD as the leading show for the watch and jewellery industry.
The Opening Ceremony is being conducted by Federal Councillor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf. She is going to be accompanied by Eva Herzog (a Member of the Cantonal Government of Basel-Stadt), Jacques J. Duchêne (President of the Exhibitors’ Committee) and René Kamm (CEO of MCH Group).
In the course of BASELWORLD 2013, 1460 exhibitors from the watch and jewellery industry, from a total of 40 different countries, are presenting their latest models and collections. Over the next eight days, some 100,000 professional visitors and more than 3,500 media representatives from 100 countries are expected to attend.
New building for spectacular stand structures reaching the highest level
The hall complex, designed by Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron and completed in time for this year’s BASELWORLD, combines functionality with aesthetics. It makes it possible for the exhibitors to showcase their brand and products even more impressively. For this purpose, some 1000 exhibition stands are going to be used for the first time ever at BASELWORLD 2013. With their spectacular stand structures, the exhibitors are giving the show an even greater radiance than ever before, unrivalled anywhere in the world.
The show management has developed a new show layout in close cooperation with the exhibitors, reflecting the trend towards the growing significance of the brand worlds in the watch and jewellery industry as well as the increasing overlap between the various sectors.
