The spare parts wholesale is and was an important connecting link between watch (movement) manufacturer and watchmaker. Big advantages for the manufacturer arise from reduced expenses in the spare parts supply (only 20 wholesalers instead of 200 watchmakers). For the watchmaker, the advantage lies in the spare parts procurement from one source instead of buying from 200 manufacturers.
