Slender dimensions with a huge historyThe Hamilton Thin-O-Matic
The new Hamilton Thin-O-Matic line has its roots in the 1960s, when the original model of this name first made waves. Available in two case sizes, each modern watch conceals the power of a slim Swiss automatic movement in a design that fuses elegance and comfort. The original Hamilton Thin-O-Matic watches earned fame as the flattest automatics of their time.
Today’s tribute happily marries Swiss craftsmanship with modern watchmaking and design. Belonging to the “Modern Times” series, inspired by the iconic 1930s Charlie Chaplin movie, it adds a new chapter to a long and eventful horological story.
Back to the future
Recalling the proud heritage of the Hamilton Thin-O-Matic are contemporary executions of retro details. These include gently curved dials and second hands, snap back closures, plus an engraved Hamilton heritage logo, integrating the brand’s famous crest, on the case back. A nine-link metal bracelet option faithfully yet playfully reflects the 1960s predecessors thanks to its ‘H’-form elements. The alternative tapered, vintage-style leather strap reveals stitching on the reverse, an appropriate visual trademark of craftsmanship.
Embracing modernity
Mirroring the flatness of the original planetary rotor movement, developed in 1957, is a high-performance automatic 2824 movement, ensuring that today’s wearers literally move with the times. State-of-the-art watchmaking expertise also enables the combination of a stepped, angular case with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. A choice of 38 mm or 42 mm case facilitates unisex appeal, with both interpretations making clear statements of timeless elegance. Included in the Hamilton Thin-O-Matic 38 mm range are two models comprising “Hamilton gold PVD”. Here the designers traced the brand’s roots back even further, to the 1940s, when this distinctive shade of pale gold first brought warmth and understated sophistication to many watches from the Hamilton Watch Company.
