2010 New York Festivals International Television & Film AwardsIWC Corporate film on the Aquatimer family of diver’s watches picks up a silver award
Once again, an entry by IWC Schaffhausen has won an award at the New York Festivals’ competition: The eight-minute launch film for the Aquatimer family of diver’s watches entitled “Galapagos – A Day with the Charles Darwin Foundation” has won a silver medal in the “Sales” category at the 2010 New York Festivals’ “Film & Video – Industrial Productions”-Competition. The documentary film gives an insight into the scientific research of the not-for-profit Foundation and in the process conveys the beauty of this unique island group and the IWC Aquatimer collection. IWC CEO Georges Kern is proud of this international accolade: “We are extremely pleased to have received one of the most prestigious awards in the advertising and media sector. We particularly value the fact that the excellent work of the Charles Darwin Foundation is being brought to the attention of a wider audience in this way.” IWC’s partnership with the Charles Darwin Foundation commenced in 2008 in the context of its ecological activities continues to bear fruit with this reputable prize.
IWC was previously acknowledged with this coveted international distinction two years ago in New York. As the sole Swiss entry, the launch film for the Da Vinci family of watches won a bronze medal in the Sales category at the 2008 Film & Video Competition. IWC also celebrated further success in New York in 2005 with the gold medal for the product film for the Aquatimer watch collection.
The “New York Festivals” are a long-established international competition, which for more than 50 years has been honouring the world’s best film productions for advertising and industry. They are regarded as one of the key indicators for the evaluation of creative communication and corporate films. Creative works in traditional categories such as Print, Outdoor, Radio, TV, Design or even Interactive can be submitted for judging in the competition. The “New York Festivals’ International Television & Film Awards”, honoring the world’s best work, will host its 2010 awards ceremony on Monday, May 3rd in the heart of midtown Manhattan.
IWC Schaffhausen is proud not only that its watches appeal to a very wide audience, but also that the associated product films receive the attention that they deserve from an expert jury. Condor Films produced the breathtaking short film “Galapagos – A Day with the Charles Darwin Foundation” under the directorship of Luki Frieden. Behind the camera, Grégoire Koulbanis was responsible for the underwater shots and Michael Saxer for the sequences on land.
