Victory at the 2010 Snow Polo Cup in Spain Jaeger-LeCoultre sponsors the first Snow Polo Cup in Spain
Team Jaeger-LeCoultre won the first edition of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Snow Polo Cup which took place in the Sierra Nevada (Granada) in Spain on March 13-14, 2010. Organized by the Santa Maria Polo Club from Sotogrande and sponsored by Jaeger-LeCoultre, this polo tournament is the first polo cup on snow in Spain.
With a spectacular result, 9 – 4, Team Jaeger LeCoultre, with Jack Kidd (UK) and Hernan Pieres (AR), and captained by Richard Fagan (UK), won the final polo match against Team Casablanca formed by Alejo Taranco (AR), Gonzalo Muñoz Escassi (SP) and Carlos Piñal (SP).
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Snow Polo Cup is a medium handicap tournament (10 / 12 goals) in a 4 chukkers match and with 3 polo players instead 4 as usual. The polo field on snow is a smaller in dimension (200x80 instead. 275x180) and the traditional “bocha” made in white wood are covered in orange leather on snow. Today snow polo is a sport with a keen following in Italy, United States, Argentina and Switzerland where it was first played 26 years ago in St. Moritz. With the Jaeger-LeCoultre Snow Polo Cup, Spain will be another referent point for snow polo lovers.
