A. LANGE & SÖHNE sponsors Gerhard Richter Retrospective in Bejing
Supported by the renowned German watch brand A. Lange & Söhne, two major exhibition projects are unveiling a new outlook on German art at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing: a retrospective of works by Gerhard Richter, one of the globally most acclaimed contemporary German artists, and the “Living Landscapes” exhibition, a journey in pictures through several periods of German landscape painting. The Richter retrospective is a joint project of the Dresden State Art Collections and the Frieder Burda Collection.
The German landscape exhibit is based on the cooperation between the Berlin State Museums, the Dresden State Art Collections and the Bavarian State Picture Collections, Munich. A. Lange & Söhne – sponsor of the Dresden State Art Collections and partner in the recently initiated intercultural dialogue “China in Dresden in China” – is pleased to be able to contribute to the success of these ambitious projects and to showcase Dresden, a city steeped in tradition, as a crucible of the arts and a venue for artists.
Lange CEO Fabian Krone explains the reasons for this commitment: “Building bridges between China and Germany must be of interest to a brand, which – like A. Lange & Söhne – has its roots in Dresden and sees itself as the ambassador of a cultural tradition. But this dialogue has additional significance for us because of our own involvement in China this year.
