Hublot - EURO 08 Chronometer
The watch specially designed by Hublot for referees officiating at the Euro 2008 matches will be presented to them today in Zurich by Hublot CEO, Jean-Claude Biver. All 44 referees will thus become the proud owners of an exclusive watch, not available for sale. The movement has been specially adapted by the watchmaking brand to the time of a match. The dial displays 45 minutes, plus 15 minutes of ext ra play, while the time can be read from the centre of the dial.
Today, Jean-Claude Biver will be presenting each of the official Euro referees with their watch, just a few weeks ahead of the start of the tournament. To mark the occasion, the new Hublot model has been manufactured and reserved exclusively for the Euro 2008 referees, who will be receiving their watch at the 'Official Preparatory Workshop for referees and assistant referees' organised by UEFA. Speaking of the 'chronometer specially designed and developed for Euro 08 referees', Biver proclaimed during the press conference: 'I'm convinced that the watch will allow Switzerland to shine, not just in Swiss Made products, but also out on the pitch'.
Having already graced the Basel Fair, the official Big Bang Euro08 watch produced especially for the Euro98 tournament in a limited edition of 2008 pieces, went on sale today. The official watchmaking sponsor and timekeeper of Euro08 thus unveils the exclusive chronograph that will be the referee's work tool. Sporting a steel watch case and bezel and rubber strap, the watch has all the design hallmarks of a great Hublot Classic, except for the distinctive 45 minute counter display, plus additional 15 minutes for extra time! The movement has been specially developed by Hublot in conjunction with Dubois-Dépraz.
