New brand ambassador for the MeisterSinger watch brandThe master singer Björn Bürger
Björn Bürger, member of the Frankfurt Opera ensemble since 2013, is now a brand ambassador for the MeisterSinger watch brand, which already maintains an ensemble partnership with the opera. Born in 1985, Bürger made his debut in Oslo with “Don Giovanni”, has already sung at the Opera Bastille Paris and at the Grand Théatre in Geneva as well as in Bayreuth and at the Händel Festival in Karlsruhe.
Numerous awards, such as from Germany’s “Bundeswettbewerb Gesang” national singing contest and the Anneliese Rothenberger contest are ample proof of Björn Bürger’s potential.
MeisterSinger makes special wristwatches that show the time with one single hour hand – watches for people who make confident, careful use of their time, in both the smaller and the greater moments in life.
There are good reasons for MeisterSinger’s commitment to the opera. It was no coincidence that Manfred Brassler, the founder of MeisterSinger, gave his company a musical-sounding name and chose the fermata, the pause sign in musical notation, as its logo, as it signifies the ability to take a breath for a moment and consider, as an alternative to haste and pedantic hurriedness.
One thing Manfred Brassler appreciates about the Frankfurt Opera ensemble is their courage to interpret a great cultural heritage in new ways – and the ability of artistic director Bernd Loebe to think out of the box.
Björn Bürger has been aware of the MeisterSinger brand for quite a long time, and once he began wearing a MeisterSinger himself, he soon learnt to appreciate the principle of the single-hand watch: “My watch really changes the way I perceive time. It saves me from getting caught up in hectic fragmentation.” The fermata in the logo is therefore a very fitting symbol: “It also reminds me that as a young singer, I need to plan my future patiently and not rush things.”
Initially, MeisterSinger wants to accompany Björn Bürger in his career for a year and also share it with friends of the company. “I look forward to helping develop the media concept,” says Björn Bürger. As part of the “MeisterSänger” project, he will be featured both in the company magazine of the watch manufacturer and on various online channels, where short video sequences will also show scenes from the young artist’s everyday working life. Some of them will show his own personal “Rituals of Time”, others will provide viewers with an insight into everyday life at the opera – a complex mechanism in which organization and artistic expression demand the intelligent use of time.
