Mission is to empower women and girlsHublot renews its support for the Womanity Foundation
Since 2007, Hublot has supported the charity projects of the Womanity Foundation (formerly the Smiling Children Foundation) whose mission is to empower women and young girls in Afghanistan, Brazil, India, Israel, Morocco and the Palestinian Territories.
The Womanity Foundation's 5th Biennial Gala was held on Thursday 30th January 2014 in Geneva, and was attended by Yann Borgstedt, President and founder of Womanity, and Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman of Hublot and President of the LVMH Group's Watch Division.
Numerous personalities and artists were also present among the 1000 or more guests, including Ayo, the famous German-Nigerian singer, Licia Chery, a rising Swiss star of Haitian descent, and the sculptor Eleanor Cardozo.
In honour of the occasion, and to continue its support for the Womanity Foundation, Hublot has created two sophisticated exclusive limited editions featuring a touch of purple - Womanity's signature colour: an elegant Classic Fusion Womanity for Women and a Classic Fusion Chrono Aero for Men.
Jean-Claude Biver declared: "Women are not only the future of mankind; they are also the superior sex, as it is they who give birth!" The Gala evening saw Hublot donate the watches engraved with 001 for auction, where they sold for a total of CHF 60,000. All of the proceeds from the sale were donated to the Foundation.
