The Grande Maison celebrates a passionate encounter with art at the MostraJaeger-LeCoultre presents its most exquisite creations in Venice
From August 31st to September 10th, 2011 on the occasion of the 68th Venice International Film Festival organized by the Biennale di Venezia, the famous “Mostra” which Jaeger-LeCoultre has been sponsoring for seven consecutive years, the brand unveils its dream cast of exceptional watchmaking creations.
Inspired by the unique atmosphere of Venice, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents its most exquisite High Jewellery. Each watch in its own particular way engages in a dialogue with time and celebrates a passionate encounter with art.
Reverso Squadra Art Ice
Playing with light in a scintillating pattern in diamonds and sapphires, the new Reverso Squadra Art Ice crystallizes the mysteries of beauty admirably expressed in the snow-setting technique, the latest gem-setting “savoir-faire” of Jaeger-LeCoultre. With its reversible case, the Reverso Squadra Art Ice possesses all the distinctive features of its renowned line. But at the same time it embodies a style that is all its own: a work of art with 1,300 diamonds and 1,755 sapphires that lend a touch of voluptuous sophistication to this contemporary creation playing with shapes and light effects.
Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Neva
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Reverso Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates femininity by unveiling a new expression of the emblematic watch. The Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin is an original timepiece that conveys the very essence of the Reverso personality: a marriage of tradition and nobility, an alliance of style and elegance.
Diamonds merge seamlessly into the case of Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Neva following the exclusive snow-setting technique and appear to crystallize the very breath of the artist in a unique design. A fairy tale landscape with dazzling diamond waves enveloping the case reflects the inspiration of the craftsmen of the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre, ever in search of the new expressions.
Exceptional watchmaking and High Jewellery were obviously destined to meet in the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshops. For more than a century the Manufacture has been combining the refinements of matchless mechanical perfection with the most alluring and complex gem-setting techniques. Avant-garde by instinct, Jaeger-LeCoultre creates new decorative techniques to light up its most beautiful horological fantasies. Nurtured into life by the expert hands of genuine artists, they celebrate the union of beauty and precision.
With snow-setting, the decorative scheme is realised directly on the watch case, with only the artisan-jeweller’s own creative instinct and knowledge of his materials to guide his hand. One slip and the whole piece may be ruined. The gem-setter places the diamonds one by one, side by side, skillfully matching differently proportioned stones in order to cover the entirety of the watch’s metal. Creative liberty of this kind requires skills and extreme attention to detail. The selection of the diamonds itself demands tremendous expertise: the most daring designs require the tiniest stones to melt into one another.
