TrustedWatch traffic volume is higher than expectedTrustedWatch is now IVW tested
Since August 2011, the traffic to the German-language online offers from TrustedWatch has been identified and authenticated by the IVW. With 436.423, the determined access figures for August for TrustedWatch were even higher than those previously published by TrustedWatch, which amounted to only 400.000 Unique Users.
Since 1949, IVW determines, examines and certifies the distribution of German-language advertising media. IVW wants thereby to ensure fair competition between the media and create transparency. The IVW-tracking procedure for online media was introduced in Germany in 1997. In the field of online media, IVW uses tracking pixels (ivwbox) to determine the total number of page views and the various associated usage processes from web services.
As the leading German-language online media in the area of watches, TrustedWatch has decided, despite numerous data protection concerns, to participate in the IVW tracking system. For years privacy advocates have criticised the disproportionately large amount of information about individual users collected by IVW. It must however be stressed that, according to TrustedWatch CEO Frank Ammann, “it is not technically possible for the IVW to identify individual users by name.”
For director Frank Ammann what was important in deciding to participate in the IVW measurements was that the access figures attained by TrustedWatch should be identified according to the generally accepted standards in the media industry. For this reason, in the foreseeable future the supply of English-language and Polish-language offers from TrustedWatch and the Facebook site will be externally checked and audited. Hereby the data, such as the regional origin or the language version of the users / fans browser, will also be detected and communicated.
