BASELNEWS 2011Limited Edition 2011: Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen

Footballer Michael Owen guarantees high scores in style and performance for wearers of his 2011 special watch. The Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen Limited Edition 2011 teams sophisticated lines and materials with proven watchmaking expertise. Its design integrates black, white and red, the home and away colours of Manchester United Football Club. It also features the striker’s lucky number seven, framing his signature on the case back. Only 4999 pieces of the tailor-made watch will be produced.

Every second counts

Just as every second on the pitch counts, every detail of this high-precision timepiece has to match top performance expectations. One of the chronograph discs is surrounded by a bold black circle making it resemble spinning footballs approaching at speed. Another disc, indicating the respective time zone, has red markings to bring a further touch of dynamism and reflect the globetrotting lifestyle of the ambassador behind it. All of the indices are raised adding to the picture of uncompromising attention to detail. The colour red also appears as the background colour of the silk-printed case back, the second hand and the elegant stitching on the black leather strap. This Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen Limited Edition 2011 successfully doubles as a talisman for loyal followers of the long-standing Tissot ambassador and a style statement with substance.

Dynamic new movement

The dynamic design of the Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen is matched by an innovative new GMT movement. The Swiss G10.961 chronograph movement accommodates a second time zone that is both easy to set and to read. Positioned at the 10 o’clock position on the dial, a 24-hour circle connects with the main hour and minute hands at the centre of the dial. Based on the G10.211, the new GMT mechanism incorporates two hands into the 2 o’clock counter. These show the minutes and hours of the chronograph, measuring time periods up to 12 hours with a resolution of one second.  Michael Owen and other global-minded individuals can set and reset the GMT to satisfy their individual timekeeping needs by pressing either the clockwise or anticlockwise pusher. A short press equates to ten minutes and a long one to one hour. With this timepiece, extra time is not exclusive to football.
