One of only 57 pieces

Value around 50,000 EuroOMEGA watches stolen in Paris

OMEGA is anxious to alert customers and collectors to the theft of a sample collection of its watches in Paris. The collection was destined for special display at the OMEGA flagship stores in Paris and included one unique and highly identifiable piece. The collection of watches was to be displayed at the OMEGA Flagship Store in Paris as part of a series of exhibitions of the latest OMEGA models presented at the 2003 World Watch and Jewellery Show in Basel, Switzerland. Similar collections will be displayed at the OMEGA flagship stores in Cannes, Milan, Zurich, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

Anyone who is approached with the offer of OMEGA timepieces at considerably reduced prices is urged to contact their local police. The stolen watches cannot be offered with guarantee, since the guarantee card has to be stamped and signed by an authorised OMEGA retailer. Furthermore, they can easily be traced using their serial number. Watches with the serial number deliberately removed are considered as counterfeit, since no proof can be offered of their authenticity.

One particular model is unique and easily identifiable. The Speedmaster Professional Moon Phase limited edition has a highly intricate and highly distinctive skeletonised movement and is one of only 57 pieces to be produced by OMEGA. The stolen model bears the number 00/57 in red on the dial above the moon phase indicator in the 12 o'clock position. This particular model, on account of its meticulous finish and rarity, is valued at around 50,000 Euro.
