Sober and refined, the slim, round 42mm diameter bezel surrounds a dial with a “guilloché” (engine-turned) finish and ‘soleil’ decoration, whose three versions, cream, silver or black, complement the sophistication of the case to perfection. A pure extraction of Atlantic’s chic simplicity, the two skeleton hands follow their narrow semi-indexed path, where the entirely hand-mounted appliques contribute their nickel or pink gold enhancement. Here, time is on display clearly and legibly. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal, date window at 3 o’clock, stylized asymmetrical seconds hand at 6 o’clock and scratch-resistant crystal case back, revealing the automatic ETA 2895-2 movement with small seconds hand, bestowing on the Worldmaster Original 1888 an identity wavering between vintage and modern, and marshalling the full impact of the Lengnau watchmaker’s innovations, over its 122-year history.
