On 26 March 2009, the Swiss Federal Council Pascal Couchepin will open the largest international watch and jewellery show, BASELWORLD 2009. The Swiss Interior Minister’s presence emphasizes the great importance the World Watch and Jewellery Show has, especially for the Swiss industry. In spite of the economic crisis, in the watch sector there were never so many exhibiting companies on such a large area as this year.
Due to the huge media interest, all eyes are on Basel for eight days. Up to 3000 international journalists will report on the watch and jewellery show.
