An eye-catcher above water, under water a professionalTernos Professional TT with ceramic bezel and automatic helium valve

Some watches don’t have an easy time of it. On one hand they have vital functions to perform, while retaining a characteristic allure on the other. Many watches find it hard to rise to this often somewhat contradictory challenge. Not the case with the redesigned Ternos Professional TT from DAVOSA.

This timepiece is a consummate professional and easily accompanies the wearer down to depths of up to 500 metres. And after punctually resurfacing, it makes a truly eye-catching statement on the wrist.

The abbreviation TT is not unknown. A car bearing the same two letters stands for tradition and technology. This aspiration is easily fulfilled by the reworked Ternos Professional TT: it is water-resistant to a depth of up to 500 metres (50 ATM), can automatically regulate gas pressure via a helium valve and a bicolour, rotatable bezel that now provides visual support for the 15-minute limit before resurfacing. This last feature is what really gives the Ternos Professional TT its name: Two Tone – in either blue-black or grey-black.

A relaxed companion even under pressure

It is quite a challenge to divide a bezel so precisely into two colour scales. However, high-tech ceramics, an elaborate development process and extremely precise tools render it possible – though the unicolour black Ternos Professional model remains part of the range. An intelligent helium valve set at 9 o’clock independently recognises when a critical gas pressure is reached inside the watch, and then ensures continuous pressure equalisation so the curved sapphire crystal with its internal, anti-reflective coating is not pushed out of the case. Nothing has changed inside: a high-quality Swiss automatic SW200 movement still powers the Ternos Professional TT.

Forms follows function

Once your dive is over, the Ternos Professional TT displays its other side, which is equally stunning. Its dial opening and ceramic bezel have been minimally optimised. The indices have been given finer contours, while the hands are now larger and their lengths are perfectly in tune with the dial dimensions. The proportions of the surgical steel case with its 42 mm diameter and height of 15.5 mm are more carefully balanced. Moreover, the Ternos Professional TT gives you a much greater choice of straps thanks to a broader lug width of 22 mm. A textile NATO strap or a rubber strap can now be combined with the Ternos Professional TT. And if you still prefer a stainless steel strap with a diving extension, you will be happy to hear there is also a polished version. Thanks to a greater use of material and individually screwed links, it is now more robust and hard-wearing, making diving with DAVOSA even safer than before. This 204 gram masterpiece retails from 798 euros.
