Homage to SaxonyA. Lange & Söhne: The New SAXONIA Watch Family

This year, A. Lange & Söhne redefined the SAXONIA. The four new members of the elegant timepiece family share an expressive face and inimitable charisma. With their timeless design and compelling inner virtues, the SAXONIA AUTOMATIC, SAXONIA, SAXONIA THIN, and SAXONIA DUAL TIME reflect the traditions of Saxon watchmaking artistry and craftsmanship.

Because of enormous deposits of silver ore, Saxony once experienced an ascent to economic superiority and cultural eminence, spurred on by a spirit of scientific innovation. Commissioned by the Saxon rulers, the most talented artisans and artists created true works of ingenuity that incessantly lure visitors from all over the world to the venues of Dresden's art collections. A historically significant timeline links the city's 16th- and 17th century court clockmakers with the modern Saxon watchmaking industry originally founded by Ferdinand A. Lange. The four new SAXONIA models clearly pay tribute to Saxony’s heritage in craftsmanship and precision horology.

The SAXONIA AUTOMATIC

Down to the very last detail, the SAXONIA AUTOMATIC leverages generations of Saxon watchmaking prowess to the present day. In the course of its refinement, it was not only endowed with a larger and thinner case but also with the Lange manufacture calibre L086.1, the third all-new self-winding movement developed from the ground up by A. Lange & Söhne. A noteworthy feature: a power reserve of 72 hours. It allows the owner, if so inclined, to set the SAXONIA AUTOMATIC aside on Friday evening, indulge in a weekend of sports, and put it on again on Monday morning without having to rewind and reset it when the new week begins. The argenté-hued, solid-silver dial is framed by a gently chamfered bezel that showcases slender baton hour markers, solid-gold lancet hands, and a minute scale reduced to the bare essence. The finesse of the perfectly finished self-winding movement can be admired through the sapphire-crystal caseback of the watch.

The SAXONIA

The new manually wound SAXONIA with the venerable manufacture calibre L941.1 manifests the same sleekness of style. The two most recent siblings are just as eloquently elegant and feature all the quality assets that characterise the noble lineage of their family.

The SAXONIA THIN

With a diameter of 40 millimetres and a height of merely 5.9 millimeters, the SAXONIA THIN is the thinnest watch ever crafted by Lange. It indicates the time in hours and minutes – nothing else. It stands out as a paradigm of equilibrium and harmony, the hallmarks of a modern classic. Its stunning 2.9-millimetre manually wound movement has a power reserve of 72 hours.

The SAXONIA DUAL TIME

The perfect travel companion is a watch that always offers guidance. The SAXONIA DUAL TIME is such a watch. It is a timepiece for people who are at home around the world. After all, the world is divided into 24 time zones, and passages across zones can be confusing for globetrotters. With a second time zone that can be set with pushbutton convenience, the SAXONIA DUAL TIME keeps its owner in the know. Adjustments are easily made with two pushers at 8 and 10 o’clock in the left-hand case flank. Pressing the upper button advances the hour hand clockwise. The lower button causes it to move anticlockwise by one hour at a time. The progression of the minute hand is not affected. A second hour hand in blued steel indicates the time at home, so one glance is all it takes to check both local time and home time. Its self-winding movement has a power reserve of 72 hours as well.
