Porsche Design stands for timelessness, functionality and purism. These qualities come to the fore in the Three-Hands and Chronograph models of the Flat Six line being premiered by Porsche Design licensee Eterna at the Baselworld World Watch and Jewellery Show, to be held from March 26th to April 2nd 2009. The proven aesthetics of the Flat Six collection are enhanced by new colour com-binations and PVD-coated cases.

The term “chronometer” denotes an especially accurate watch, such as those that were necessary in the past for determining the time needed for sea and air navigation. Today, just as in the past, official independent institutes test the exacting level of rate precision of these timepieces utilizing standardized measuring procedures. Only with certification from an authorized institute is a timepiece allowed to be called a chronometer.
BASELNEWS 2009 From Regulator to Singulator
Historically, regulators are extremely high-precision pendulum clocks for scientific applications. Since hours are a unit of minor importance in these applications, they are represented on a subsidiary dial so as to avoid reading errors. This highly balanced dial design was adopted for a number of clocks, such as marine chronometers with power reserve indicator or for chronographs.

Pretty much the same love of adventure affected our designers when planning the NIVREL Shark Sea (Ref. N 350.001). It is also a watch of superlatives.
Elegant masterpiece Master of its Class: Senator Meissen Tourbillon
A classically elegant masterpiece is the latest result of the long-time collaboration between the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory and the Glashütte Original watch manufactory. Two world-famous Saxon inventions unite in the Senator Meissen Tourbillon: Meissen porcelain and the flying tourbillon. The latter is an invention by Alfred Helwig from 1920, who served as an instructor at the German School of Watchmaking in Glashütte.
The watch features a 45 mm polished titanium case, which is perfectly skin friendly, with a unidirectional rotating bezel in either 18 ct rose gold or stainless steel. The wave-patterned rubber strap has been especially created to complement the attractive dial, which is integrated on the rotary bezel.
