Face of New Epoch

BASELNEWS 2010A. Lange & Söhne: LANGE ZEITWERK wins red dot design award

The LANGE ZEITWERK is the first mechanical wristwatch with a truly eloquent jumping numeral display. With a completely innovative watch concept the “Face of New Epoch in Timekeeping” marks a further milestone in the history of A. Lange & Söhne. And to prove it, it has just won its second major international design prize: the renowned “red dot design award” in the “product design” category.

The “red dot” seal of quality has been awarded annually by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen since 1955 in recognition of internation- ally outstanding product design. It is thus not only one of the oldest design awards in the world, but also one of the most important. On 8 March 2010 in Essen, out of 4,252 products submitted from 57 countries, the jury of 30 internationally recognised design experts presented the coveted prize to the LANGE ZEITWERK in the jewellery, fashion and luxury articles section.

Only 10 days later, the LANGE ZEITWERK received its 11th award in Basle: the 2nd prize of Germany’s “Watch of the Year” election.
