(01/2009) Powerboats are the Formula 1 of the oceans. Traditionally, Dubai hosts the final two races of the World Powerboat Championship. Once again, the Swiss watch manufacturer Edox was official timekeeper of the 2008 Emirates & Dubai Duty Free Grand Prix in December. With a double win in the penultimate race of the season, the Victory Team could celebrate its 8th championship in 16 years in Dubai.
(01/2009) With a special edition of the "Emergency", Breitling is supporting Prince Albert II of Monaco’s "Monaco South Pole Expedition”. On 4th of January 2009, Prince Albert II and his team will embark on an expedition to the South Pole. The expedition begins in the south of Chile and ends after 16 days in Cape Town, South Africa. Through this initiative Prince Albert II wants to draw attention to the continuing environmental damage, climate change and the melting of the polar caps.
(12/2008) The AC Milan Brazilian star’s villa in the province of Varese was burgled during early morning of December 23rd, 2008. Security guards discovered the robbers and fired several shots. According to police reports, the burglars stole tens of thousands of Euros worth of jewelry and luxury watches, but left behind Ronaldinho’s football trophies.
(12/2008) At golf superstar Annika Sörenstam’s last tournament, professional golfer Anja Monke celebrated her second win of the season. The 31-year-old from Herford won the €500,000 Dubai Ladies Masters finishing with a 13-under 275 total and three strokes ahead of Italian Veronica Zorzi.
(12/2008) In Budapest, the professional motorcycle racer and former 125cc World Champion Gábor Talmácsi threw a year-end party which was also his farewell party to thank his friends, sponsors and his team. For the next season, Talmácsi has signed a contract with Aspar to ride in the 250cc team. As a special gesture for Christmas, all his team members received a watch from Talmácsi’s own collection.

Time is running out for many plant species. (11/2008) A special watch for a special footballer: IWC Schaffhausen is dedicating a special edition of the Portuguese Perpetual Calendar to its ambassador, the Portuguese football star Luís Figo. This limited edition of 50 watches in a rose gold case bears Figo’s signature discreetly on the dial and his squad number 7 as a gold medallion in the rotor. His name has been synonymous with the finest football artistry for almost 20 years, and Luís Filipe Madeira Caeiro Figo, to give him his full name, already stood out clearly from the crowd as a youth.

(10/2008) The last Saturday of October, an exceptional event took place in the Allerheiligenhofkirche, the court church of all saints in Munich. In collaboration with the business consultancy Booz & Company and the long-established watch and jewellery shop Uhren Huber, Girard-Perregaux organised a private concert of the French pianist Hélène Grimaud and the famous cellist Jan Vogler.
(09/2008) At September 26th 2008 HUBLOT Ambassador Yves Rossy successfully completed an amazing challenge at 1:19pm (BST) and became the first man to fly across the English Channel from Calais, France to Dover, UK, using a homemade, single, jet-powered wing. FusionMan covered a distance of 35 kilometres in 13 minutes. His flight has been broadcasted live on 164 tv stations through National Geographic Channel.

Numen/For Use’s Christoph Katzler, Nikola Radeljkovic, and Sven Jonke have established a reputation for their unique sense of the dynamic potential of space and reflected light.

(08/2008) Hublot ’s presence for the first t ime at the Polo Gold Cup at Gstaad was a success on all front s, beginning with the associat ion of it s name to the prest igious “HUBLOT POLO GOLD CUP GSTAAD” event . In addit ion, the watchmaking brand lent it s name to a team of ext raordinary players who proudly sported it s colours alongside the brand's Argent inian ambassador, Miguel Nov illo Ast rada. To crown the event , the proud winners of the “Gstaad Palace” team were presented with a Big Bang chronograph from the “Polo Gold Cup Gstaad” limited series.
(08/2008) Last Friday, before appearing as the presenter for “Diva Maxima”, the actor Sky du Mont paid a visit to the Glashütte Original manufactory. The Saxon watchmaking company was one of the main sponsors involved in supporting this unique musical event. Dr. Frank Müller, Managing Director of Glashütte Original, personally greeted Mister du Mont in the production workshops. In the studio, Sky du Mont then learned something of the fine art of watch design as practiced by the master watchmakers in Glashütte Original.
