OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Annual Calendar for a hole-in-oneOMEGA is Official timekeeper for the Maybank Malaysian Open 2011

OMEGA is one of the few watch brands in the world with a history and tradition that can compete with that of the noble sport of golf. Founded in 1848, twelve years before the first-ever British Open took place at Prestwick Golf Club near Glasgow; OMEGA’s involvement in international golf today includes tour and tournament sponsorship as well as official timekeeping.

Golfers will have the chance to own the magnificent OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Annual Calendar if they sink a hole-in-one at the tournament. The deluxe timepiece has a self-winding movement with Co-Axial escapement for greater precision stability and durability. It is a polished bi-colour with 18 Ct red gold and stainless steel case with polished bezel, domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatments on both sides and a polished screw-in caseback with sapphire crystals. In line with the range, it is also water resistant up to 150m, has a lacquered teak-grey dial, diamond-polished sides with brushed top and a luxury finish with exclusive Geneva waves in arabesque. Aside from the hole-in-one watch, OMEGA will also contribute a Constellation Double Eagle Chrono timepiece to the eventual winner of the tournament.

One of OMEGA's golfing brand ambassadors, S. Y. Noh, will be defending his title at the tournament. South Korea’s Noh became the youngest ever player to win the Asian Tour Order of Merit last season, at the age of 19 years and 204 days. The catalyst for this success was his win at last year’s edition of the Malaysian Open where, at the time, he became the second youngest golfer to claim a win on The European Tour. Noh’s 2011 season was on the up-and-up when he recently qualified for his first WGC- Accenture Match Play Championship as one of the top 64 players in the Official World Golf Ranking.

This year, the tournament reaches a milestone as it celebrates its 50th edition as some of the world’s best golfers gather to compete at the renowned Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club from the 14th to 17th April 2011. Involved in the world of sports since the beginning of the last century, OMEGA has contributed immensely to the development of top-level timing technology. The first company to be entrusted with the official timekeeping of all disciplines at the Los Angeles Games in 1932, OMEGA’s name has become synonymous with the Olympic Games, and its association with golf is equally well acclaimed.

In 2007, OMEGA became the title sponsor of the World Cup of Golf – one of the oldest and most prestigious global golf team event. The association with the World Cup further establishes OMEGA’s presence in international golf. The brand also serves as title sponsor for some of the world’s leading tournaments including the OMEGA European Masters, the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic, and OMEGA the Dubai Ladies Masters. In 2009, the OMEGA European Masters tournament in Switzerland was one of the first events ever to be co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours.
