Sir Bob Geldof is laudator for the Audience AwardZurich Film Festival: Maurice Lacroix designs a special limited-edition timepiece

Maurice Lacroix is once again the exclusive watchmaking sponsor of the Zurich Film Festival and the Audience Award, which will draw special attention this year. As laudator, Maurice Lacroix brand ambassador Sir Bob Geldof in person will present the Audience Award on the closing night to the director of the winning film chosen by the festival audience. The winner receives one of the 36 special limited-edition timepieces designed for the Zurich Film Festival. Watches will also be presented to the panel of judges and the directors of the best international documentary, the best international feature film and the best German-language feature film.

In the words of Martin Bachmann, Maurice Lacroix’s CEO, “When we think of Bob Geldof, we think of intelligence, eloquence and genuineness in so many different fields, such as music, humanitarian action and international business. He is someone who has always gone his own way in life and in so doing has been outstandingly successful. The same can be said for the Zurich Film Festival, which, due to the determination and commitment of its directors, Karl Spörri and Nadja Schildknecht, has achieved much in just six years and has attracted inspiring personalities to Zurich. It makes absolute sense to associate Bob Geldof, our brand ambassador, with the ZFF.”

The special limited edition (36 timepieces) is based on the Pontos chronograph and has a hand-decorated self-winding movement, 30 minute and 12 hour counters, and a date display. Ten of these timepieces are available exclusively from Kurz Schmuck und Uhren in Zurich, at a price of 3200 CHF.

The programme ranges from Hollywood films to extravagant art-house cinema. Along with premiere parties, panel discussions and Zurich Master Class workshops, personal meetings with actors and directors count among the various visitor highlights at the festival. In 2005, the two current co-directors, Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri, founded Spoundation Motion Picture GmbH, promoted by the Zurich Film Festival. Last year, over 37,000 film enthusiasts attended the Zurich Film Festival.
