Great Olympic Moments in TimeOMEGA celebrates the inaugural Youth Olympic Games at Ion Orchard

OMEGA, the luxury Swiss watch brand, celebrated its first collaboration with the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore with the official opening of the "Great Olympic Moments in Time" exhibition. Together with more than 200 invited guests, the event commemorated OMEGA’s long standing involvement with the Olympic Games. The night presented guests the opportunity to discover OMEGA’s rich Olympic history with displays of the brand’s unique OMEGA’s timekeeping equipment.

The main atrium at ION Orchard Shopping Mall was transformed into a sporting arena modeled after popular sports events such as athletics and swimming, to showcase OMEGA’s innovation in those sports. Guests put OMEGA's sports timekeeping devices to the test by timing their own movements on the speed stimulation game, as they marveled at the OMEGA timekeeping equipment that had been used in past Olympic Games as well as watches which commemorated the Games. Among these were early 1932 pocket watches, the classic 1956 Omega Seamaster and the current day Olympic Limited Edition collection watches.

The emcee of the evening – Zhang Tingjun, kicked the night off by inviting Mr. David Ponzo, Vice President of OMEGA South East Asia to the stage for a welcoming speech. This was followed by an address from Mr. Eric Tan, Chief Operating Officer, Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee.

The official opening was launched as Mr. Ponzo and Mr. Tan rang the Olympic Bell, traditionally used to signal the beginning of a final lap in the longer sporting competitions as multi-coloured confetti streamed down upon the event.

It was a night of song and dance as guests were treated to a performance by vocalist Vanessa Fernandez as guests partied till late. Jazz band Dawn Ho and Company brought the evening to a close, setting an elegant and tranquil tone for friends to say their goodbyes.
