Asian star Chi Ling Lin attended Royal AscotLongines: Official timekeeper for the races at Ascot

For the fourth consecutive year, Longines has had the singular honour of being official timekeeper for the races at Ascot which includes the prestigious Royal Ascot week. The famous Swiss watchmaker whose slogan is “Elegance is an attitude” is also one of the sponsors of the Royal Ascot Fashion Show, which is held in the Bessborough restaurant. The enchanting Asian star Chi Ling Lin, one of Longines’ Ambassadors of Elegance, attended Royal Ascot on Tuesday 15th June and was able to admire both the famous racecourse and the new ladies’ models in the Longines PrimaLuna collection.

Royal Ascot week is considered worldwide to be one of the most prestigious sporting events of all time, combining tradition and high performance for almost 300 years. It was Queen Anne who understood the potential of horse-racing at Ascot and the first race, the Queen Anne Stakes, was held there on 11 August 1711. Longines has been the official timekeeper at the Ascot races since 2007 and has recently signed a contract for a further three years.

This year some 500 horses will take part in 30 races over the week, closely followed by 300,000 spectators at the racecourse itself as well as many millions more sitting in front of their television sets. There are few other sports events that can compete with the rich heritage of Royal Ascot or with the importance it enjoys in the equestrian calendar.

In 2010, Royal Ascot was once again an event marked by elegance, notably thanks to the presence of Chi Ling Lin, a Longines ambassador of elegance since 2005. Chi Ling Lin became famous in Asia as a model and television presenter before moving into acting. This was her first visit to the prestigious Royal Ascot event. After greeting the many guests in the Longines box and admiring the new ladies’ models in the Longines PrimaLuna collection, Chi Ling Lin watched the Royal Ascot Fashion Show that took place before the races which showcased the talented British fashion designers Vivienne Westwood, Stephen Jones, Amanda Wakeley, Matthew Williamson and Gieves & Hawkes. Then after lunch Chi Ling Lin was able to watch the racing and soak up the atmosphere at the impressive event. Despite her fascination for the racing itself, the Asian star was kind enough to grant many interviews with journalists and pose for photographers from all around the world. She wasted no time in enchanting those present through her irresistible charm and her ability to captivate those around her.

In the evening, the guests attended an elegant gala dinner set in the beautiful English countryside, during which Chi Ling Lin presented the new ladies’ models in the Longines PrimaLuna collection. The new star of the collection, however, was the Thousand and One Nights model that combines the brilliance of steel with the subtle warmth of rose gold.
