LANGE ZEITWERK - Face of a new era

“When it is dark enough you can see the stars” – a quote by Ralph W. Emerson was used as a teaser at the top of the invitation to Berlin promising nothing less than the opening of a new chapter in the history of A. Lange & Söhne. About 200 jewellers and journalists from all over the world followed the mysterious invitation to an undisclosed location and allowed Lange to take them on an expedition from darkness to light.

For a period of four days, the “Temporary Exhibition Hall” on Berlin’s Palace Square – a location that like no other stands for historic change and comeback – was turned into a stage for the reveal of a horolo-gical sensation: the LANGE ZEITWERK. With a mechanical, precisely jumping hour and minute indication of singular clarity, this exceptional timepiece represents yet another milestone in the brand’s history.

Consequently, the presentation reached its climax with the minute jump on the hour. At this point, all three numeral discs switch forward simultaneously and instantaneously by exactly one unit. The time step symbolises in equal measure Lange’s innovative energy and the importance of the moment. In Berlin a new star was born – by far more than just a horological innovation: a new face of time.
