CASIO G-SHOCK to Become Official Team Supporter of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship in 2009

CASIO Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches will provide support for the 2009 Red Bull Air Race World Championship, brings world-class race pilots together in a global motor sport competition based on speed and skill. G-SHOCK will be an Official Team Supporter of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship.

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship is a test of physical and mental endurance where the world’s best race pilots navigate an obstacle course in the sky at speeds reaching 370 km/h, while being subjected to gravitional forces of up to 12 Gs. With its advanced technology coupled with shock-resistant, vibration-resistant construction, G-SHOCK is more than tough enough for these incredible sportsmen. Since G-SHOCK’s image is so compatible with this unique form of motor sport, CASIO has become an Official Team Supporter of the 2009 Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Throughout the contract term through December 31, 2009, the company will throw its support behind an up-and-coming pilot, Matthias Dolderer, and his team.

Matthias Dolderer, Red Bull Air Race pilot, said, "I am very pleased that G-SHOCK supports my team in this racing season. This tough watch is the perfect timekeeper for race pilots like me because we have to withstand G-forces of up to 12 G in the cockpit - and this watch goes along with it. I will do my very best to be on the podium together with G-SHOCK as often as possible."

Yuichi Masuda, Senior General Manager of CASIO’s Timepiece Product Unit, said, “We are very pleased to be able to use the G-SHOCK brand to support the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. We plan to convey the appeal of the latest addition to the G-SHOCK line, called Gravity Defier, directly to the public, through the Red Bull Air Races. This watch has the specifications needed to deliver the outstanding performance racing pilots need under extreme cockpit conditions."

With the participation of 15 world-class pilots, the 2009 season will kick off in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on April 17, 2009, before moving on to races in five other countries. CASIO is undertaking various sales promotion campaigns for the G-SHOCK utilizing its rights an Official Team Supporter of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship.
