BASELNEWS: CERTINA and the BMW Sauber F1 Team - Full speed ahead for a fifth year of partnership
For CERTINA and the BMW Sauber F1 Team, 2009 marks the fifth year of a partnership crowned with success. As we have grown accustomed to seeing in recent racing seasons, the CERTINA logo will adorn the race lollipop – the small sign used to signal to drivers the end of their pit stop – and the helmets and overall cuffs of team drivers Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld.
The BMW Sauber F1 Team can stand proud of its very successful 2008 Formula 1 season. After a first double victory, a first pole position in team history, and nine other podium finishes, the BMW Sauber F1 Team closed the season with a highly respectable third place in the Constructors' Championship. The two team drivers, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, respectively ended the season in fourth and sixth place. The BMW Sauber F1 Team now ranks among the official Top Three.
The 2009 Championship calendar is set to evolve around numerous changes and challenges, within Formula 1 and beyond, as the world undergoes a period of adjustment, discovery and new opportunities. Important changes to Formula 1 regulations will affect teams and drivers, and could change the shape of things to come, in 2009. The new KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), dramatic changes to front-aero and rear wing designs, slick tyres and many other changes will demand the most from all F1 teams and their drivers. Naturally, that can only mean a more exciting season for all Formula 1 fans!
Formula 1 and in particular, the BMW Sauber F1 Team, stand for precision, reliability, cutting-edge technology, innovation and dynamism. These values have always been the very symbol behind the CERTINA company philosophy, whose identity is closely linked with the greatest names in motorised sport. CERTINA President Adrian Bosshard stands convinced, and says, 'Formula 1 is the ideal communication platform for our brand toward a large and enthusiastic public.' Thanks to its original, high-quality watch collections, its excellent distribution and marketing activities focused on Formula 1, CERTINA has shown very positive growth in recent years. Formula 1 is enormously popular in Europe and Asia, where the CERTINA brand enjoys its widest distribution.
CERTINA and the BMW Sauber F1 Team both cultivate tremendous team spirit, and the two entities have great know-how and resources at their disposal. This energy is at the heart of our strong optimism for 2009, for we know with certainty that 'United, we are stronger!' As Official Partner of the BMW Sauber F1 Team in 2009, CERTINA will continue to provide team members and staff with the latest and most precise high-quality sports timepieces.
