Champion’s Diver – winners’ unionBASELWORLD 2012: Evgeny Plushenko & Ulysse Nardin
The work of sportsmen and watchmakers has much in common: focus on the process, filigree performance, painstaking work and a serious approach to the matter. These similarities likely facilitated this collection of Ulysse Nardin. The entire team has been striving for the best result.
The new timepiece has been developed on the basis of UN-26 caliber, which is used in the production of the traditional Ulysse Nardin Marine Collection. Its self-winding movement features a 42-hour power reserve indicator, oversized small seconds and a large date display.
Its stainless-steel case has been specially treated with a sophisticated vulcanization process giving it a black rubber coating with a remarkable appearance and a truly comfortable feel. The dial indicators and the hands are decorated in noble blue. The golden bezel marks and the crown in gold complete the powerful image.
The blue in the watch design is not incidental. For Ulysse Nardin, this color represents our rich marine history of creating legendary marine chronometers. The blue reminds Evgeny Plushenko of the ice that brought success and glory to the champion, while the gold symbolizes his numerous victories and tens of gold medals.
Fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel and screwed crown, its individually-numbered case is water-resistant to 200 meters. The reliability of this limited edition timepiece is further strengthened by an exclusive ceramic folding clasp and a matching rubber strap with ceramic components and thus ensure the watch to stay on its owner’s wrist even when he or she is engaged in active sports.
There are only 250 of these limited-edition watches available.
