Congratulations, Sergio! Sergio Garcia wins Castelló Masters
OMEGA’s long-time friend and brand ambassador won a decisive victory at the Castelló Masters on the Club de Campo del Mediterráneo course where he was club champion at 12. For Sergio Garcia, there’s no place like home.
Garcia put together four impressive rounds of golf: 66, 63, 64 and 63 for a remarkable 27 strokes under par. His total of 257 was the lowest score in the history of the European Tour. On winning in front of his home fans, Garcia said, "It's just a special feeling. The only other time I get this is in the UK when I play the Ryder Cup or the British Open. The energy of the crowd was just amazing."
The golfer put himself in a commanding position going into the fourth round on Sunday with his 63 on Friday and a 64 on Saturday. They were the best back-to-back rounds of Garcia’s life. His 63 in the final round left him with a breathtaking 11-stroke margin of victory over his countryman, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño.
Sergio Garcia has been a professional golfer since 1999 but his recent play has demonstrated that the 31-year-old can still look forward to some of the best golf of his career.
