(03/2007) On Friday, March 2nd, 2007 twelve future watchmakers and three tool makers signed their apprenticeship contract at the watch manufactory Glashütte Original. More than 220 candidates had applied for the 15 training vacancies at the company-owned watchmaking school “Alfred Helwig”.

(08/2006) Selected out of over 200 applications twelve beginning watchmakers began their education at Glashütte Original’s Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking August 21st, 2006, at 9:30 am. With a plea to their honesty and commitment Glashütte Original’s managing director of production Günter Wiegand turned the new apprentices into the hands of Uwe Bahr and his educational team during a formal ceremony. This is the fifth class to go through the school since its opening in 2001.

After three years of apprenticeship the young watchmakers will enter the world of work. This important moment was appreciated with a ceremonial act in the manufactory’s atrium.

(06/2006) The Glashütte Original watch manufactory’s customer magazine Momentum - Magazine for Contemporaries was honored with this year’s Best of Corporate Publishing Award (BCP). This award is given out each year to the best corporate publications in Europe during a conference of the industry association Forum Corporate Publishing (FCP) in Munich. On Wednesday, June 28, 2006, the magazine was presented with first prize in the consumer publication category and second prize in the print-online category.
(03/2006) The gonging of a vintage Glashütte grandfather clock by Karl W. Höhnel at exactly 12:00 on March 16, 2006, in the Glashütte Original manufactory’s atrium marked the historical establishment of the German Watch Museum Glashütte - Nicolas G. Hayek foundation. For this occasion, CEO of Swatch Group AG, Nick Hayek, jr., journeyed from Switzerland to join local mayor Frank Reichel and Glashütte Original’s managing director Dr. Frank Müller to seal the foundation’s establishment by signing the official paperwork.
