(09/2009) The International Olympic Committee IOC and The Swatch Group Ltd. announced the signing today of a long term partnership in the areas of timing, scoring and venue results services for the Olympic Games. The Swatch Group Ltd. will be the Official Timekeeper and Results Service Partner for the XXII. Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014, the Games of the XXXI. Olympiad in 2016, the XXIII. Olympic Winter Games in 2018 and the Games of the XXXII. Olympiad in 2020.

Swatch Group Tech-Airport wins the Nice Airport bid

(09/2009) Tech-Airport Holding SAS, a Swatch Group company specializing in retailing at airports, has won the bid to operate watch and jewelry outlets at the Nice Côte d'Azur airport. Tech-Airport already operates twenty-eight stores – nine at Roissy Charles de Gaulle (France); nine at Orly (France), five in Nice (France), one in Nantes (France) and another is scheduled to open in Vienna (Austria) in 2010.

Swatch Group Investigation against ETA

(09/2009) The Swiss Competition Commission COMCO informed today on their website that an investigation against ETA Manufacture Horlogère SA has been opened. It is not the first time that the COMCO investigates against a company of the Swatch Group. The Swatch Group is confident that the results of this investigation will again be positive for ETA.

Watch-business in South Africa The Swatch Group Ltd.: Acquisition of Swiss Precision, Johannesburg

(04/2009) The Swatch Group Ltd. has signed an acquisition contract concerning Swiss Precision (Pty) Ltd., of Johannesburg, South Africa, which is responsible for the distribution of watches in that country. The Swatch Group already held 10% of the company’s share capital. The company was formed in 2003 together with the Moss Family for the purpose of distributing watches produced by the Swatch Group. The acquisition will be effective upon approval by the responsible South African authorities.

Unacceptable behaviour Watch author Gerd-Lothar Reschke blocked on Watch-Wiki

(01/2009) Trouble on the renowned watch internet site Watch-Wiki. One of the participants, the famous watch author Gerd-Lothar Reschke a.k.a „Gerd-Lothar“ was banned from Watch-Wiki in January 2009, due to gross violation of the internal rules. Apparently Gerd-Lothar Reschke tried to use the homepage, which is frequented strongly by watch lovers, for his own benefit.
