Positive signs expected

1,915 watch and jewellery exhibitors from 45 countries will be out in force at BASELWORLD to showcase their latest products and collec-tions. Once again, many of the companies present are exhibiting exclusively at BASELWORLD, underlining the event’s importance and the high hopes associated with it. The show’s directors can therefore look forward to BASELWORLD 2010 giving positive signs to the watch and jewellery industry. After challenging times, the event should decisively herald a phase of recovery or upturn for manufactu¬rers and the trade.

Major national importance of BASELWORLD

The presence of Federal Councillor Leuenberger emphasises the major importance of the World Watch and Jewellery Show for the Swiss watch industry. Exhibitors presenting products in Basel repre-sent over 90% of total exports by the country’s third most important sector. This year, BASELWORLD is again a shining example for the local watch industry and associated suppliers. During the show, about 100,000 buyers and almost 3,000 media representatives from 100 countries are expected to visit Basel.
