MeisterSinger Circularis scores design hat trickAfter winning the iF and Red Dot Awards, MeisterSinger has now also netted the German Design Award

The Circularis, made by Münster-based manufacturer MeisterSinger, has won the German Design Award, the internationally coveted prize presented by the German Design Council. The award is bestowed in recognition of products that are uniquely trendsetting in the German and international design worlds.

To do justice to the diversity of the products submitted, the Excellent Product Design segment is divided into ten categories that cover all aspects of daily life. Evaluation criteria such as functionality, usability, overall concept, and technical quality decide whether a product is sufficiently impressive to win an award.

MeisterSinger founder and designer Manfred Brassler has already won not only the iF Design Award 2015 for the watch design, but also the Red Dot Award 2015 for the movement. The Circularis, which has been part of the MeisterSinger collection since 2014, convincingly combines the outstanding technical quality and the aesthetic ideals of this exclusive watch manufacturer.

The hour digits are displayed on the dial in a fine serif typeface. A circular recess in the center provides structural depth, particularly in its interplay with the sunburst pattern on its sapphire-blue or silver-white dial. Twelve slender line indices accentuate the inherent nature of the single-hand watch: An eye for the truly important things in life. The watch is powered by a manually wound movement, specially developed for MeisterSinger by Swiss craftsmen to meet its exacting standards: The robust MSH01 movement powers the single hour hand with amazing precision and features an ample 120-hour power reserve, driven by twin mainspring barrels.

Their positioning and, above all, the unique, exquisitely shaped bridge, give this timepiece its highly unusual design and underscore MeisterSinger’s aspiration to visibly merge its creative and technical ideals in one perfect wristwatch. For the first time, founder and designer Manfred Brassler has created not only the dial and the case of a watch, but also the finely balanced appearance of the movement, an ideal powerhouse for a beautifully designed chronometer that has now carried off yet another prestigious award.
