Double Your PerformanceBASELWORLD 2011 Preview: The new Marinus GMT
Muehle Glashuette’s latest Marinus GMT features a second time zone. A powerful outdoor-watch sticking to the credo of 100% is not enough. Imagine yourself surfing at Australian’s East coast, sailing in the Southern hemisphere or rafting in the rockies: Overseas outdoor adventures are twice as much fun as indoor activities. Having this in mind, the German watch brand Muehle Glashuette equipped its latest Marinus with a second timezone for boundless performance all over the globe.
Marinus GMT easily bounces back from a tough blow. Being a reliable partner for all kinds of fun and extreme sports, the robust outdoor watch has proved to be absolutely resistant to external influences such as pressure, temperature fluctuations, and salt water. On all continents. Thanks to its additional second time zone indication, the travel accessory allows the wearer to have the local time zone on his arm and his home time on his wrist wherever he travels. For the ease of distinction between home and local time, the dial is furnished with a red scale, perfectly matching the colour of the GMT hand. It points outwards to the bidirectional bezel, which indicates the second time zone.
Furthermore, Marinus GMT is equipped with a Muehle-specific ETA 2893-2 automatic movement. In addition to the so-called “woodpecker neck regulation” – the company’s own adjustment in the shape of a woodpecker’s head, it features the characteristic Muehle-rotor with the famous Glashuette solar grinding. A power reserve of 42 hours, stop seconds and quickset date mechanism complete the technical particularities of the durable timekeeper. When facing challenges, Marinus GMT, water resistant to 30 atm, is securely protected by a solid stainless steel case with a diameter of 42.2 mm and a height of 12.2 mm. Several details such as the bossed, non-reflective 2.5 mm sapphire glass, the clear structure of the dial, and the hands and indices coated with white Super-LumiNova ensure excellent visibility. The bidirectional rotating, handy bezel and the crown’s side protectors perfectly round out the watch’s unique outdoor character.
These details make Marinus GMT a watch for all those who expect more than 100% performance.
