Watch of the YearThe winners are two german watches
Wempe received a huge honour in April 2007: On the opening day of Baselworld, the world’s most important trade fair for watches, the Zeitmeister ladies’ watch from Wempe was crowned “Watch of the Year”. Readers of Die Welt, Welt am Sonntag and the watch magazine Armbanduhren chose this watch from Glashütte in Saxony as their favourite from a field of 72 ladies’ watches. A total of 11,893 readers took part in the survey, so this cherished award is a genuine sign of public recognition. Kim-Eva Wempe accepted the award in person.
A ladies’ watch of simple elegance, the Wempe Zeitmeister quartz chronometer was developed by the company and, with its diameter of 38 millimetres, reflects the trend to XL-size watches. The winning watch features a screwed-on case back with a relief engraving of the observatory and a quartz movement with stop seconds and a central second hand — functional elegance without unnecessary flourishes. In the category of men’s watches, the winner was the Tourbograph Pour le Mérite manufactured by A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte.
