For the first time, the Sportura collection includes a Kinetic Direct Drive movement. Taking its energy from the wearer’s movement, and converting this Kinetic energy into electricity, SEIKO Kinetic technology has always been a perfect platform for sports watches, where reliability is vital. The oscillating weight of the watch activates a micro rotor, which transmits the power to the generator. Thereby, rotational speeds of up to 60,000 revolutions per minute can be generated. This is considerably faster than a motor of a Formula 1 racing car with its 4,000 to 20,000 revolutions per minute.
Before the race, the wearer can check the power level, and, if necessary, generate additional power to ensure exact time measurement. The power reserve indicator is at 9 o’clock, and, when in real-time mode, is as responsive to the energy input through manual winding as a rev counter in a GT sports car. High legibility is achieved with an anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal and a jet black dial. The Kinetic-technology of this timepiece received the “Blue Angel” award.
